The center represents the only educational and research edifice in the State of Kuwait specialized in marine science studies and research.  It is concerned with conducting academic and applied research related to marine sciences and the marine environment in cooperation with local and international authorities.  It is also a consultative center and an emergency room to solve Kuwaiti environmental marine crises.  It aims to develop and achieve the concepts of sustainable development to preserve the natural resources of the marine environment.  It also seeks to preserve the country’s marine wealth, and increase environmental awareness among all community groups.
