Minors


The Department of Physics is offering three (3) Minors :


1. Minor in Physics

The student has to attend and successfully pass the following courses :

  • PHYS 102     General Physics II for Science and Engineers Students
  • PHYS 107     General Physics Lab II
  • PHYS 203     General Physics III
  • PHYS 213     Principles of Electronics
  • PHYS 209     Modern Physics
  • PHYS 217     Mathematical Methods in Physics
  • PHYS 301     Quantum Physics I

In addition, the student needs five (5) more credits (elective) selected from the list of courses (200 level and above) offered by the Department of Physics. 


2. Minor in Engineering Physics ( Remote Sensing )

The student has to attend and successfully pass the following courses :

  • PHYS 251    Introduction to Remote Sensing
  • PHYS 351    Applied Optics
  • PHYS 375    Physics of Climate
  • PHYS 475    Visible and IR Remote Sensing
  • PHYS 476    Microwave Remote Sensing
  • PHYS 479    Radar Signal Processing

In addition, the student needs six (6) more credits (elective) selected from the list of courses (200 level and above) offered by the Department of Physics. 


3. Minor inEngineering Physics (Lasers & Optical Communications)

The student has to attend and successfully pass the following courses :

  • PHYS 337     Semiconductor Physics & Devices
  • PHYS 351     Applied Optics
  • PHYS 352     Introduction to lasers
  • PHYS 353     Laser Physics Laboratory
  • PHYS 451     Laser Applications
  • PHYS 454     Laser Devices
  • PHYS 459     Optical Communications

In addition, the student needs six (6) more credits (elective) selected from the list of courses ( 200 level and above ) offered by the Department of Physics.
