I am an Assistant Professor of Biology at Kuwait University and a professional rower on the Kuwait National team. I grew up in various cities including Sanaa, Athens, Stockholm, Los Angeles, London, Kyoto, and Kuwait. I have been very fortunate to experience diverse cultures and gain unique perspectives from each. Through my university studies in Los Angeles, I found myself in science and decided to pursue it to the highest level. I went on to get my MSC in Human Physiology from King's College London and my PhD in Biological Sciences from Kyoto University, Japan. During my educational career, I discovered my passion for movement and trained in various disciplines from yoga to kick-boxing, to Pilates, but never trained competitively. It wasn't until later in my life that I accidentally discovered rowing at the age of 27. Rowing was a new challenge and hobby that grew into a new goal and ambition, rowing at the Olympic games. I successfully achieved this goal for the 2024 Paris Olympic games as the first Kuwaiti female to participate in the event. While the majority of my time is spent in academia and sports, I am an avid baker and artist and will spend any spare time in the kitchen or studio.
