Message from the Chair 

Welcome to the Department of Statistics and Operations Research at Kuwait University, which was established in 1989!  We are passionate about creating new knowledge in statistics and operations research and communicating this knowledge to our students. You have the opportunity to be scientifically trained as an expert in statistics and operations research through our unique learning-based programs, while you are embedded in a technological environment.

Please explore our website to gain insight into our undergraduate programs in Applied Statistics, and Statistics and Operations Research as well as our graduate program in Statistics and Operations Research. These programs adequately train and prepare students to undertake key positions within the growing economy of Kuwait. Our graduates are highly solicited as consultants, analysts, and decision makers in various industry, service, and government organizations. We are proud of our graduate's success, as well as our accreditation by the Royal Statistical Society, for our high level of academic rigor.                                                                           

Our undergraduate and graduate programs are delivered by an outstanding faculty characterized by a powerful combination of formal academic training coupled with consulting experience.  Your interaction with our faculty extends beyond the classroom.  From placement in jobs to serving as references, the personal connection between our faculty and students is a hallmark of our programs. 

Our department currently has 22 faculty members, all graduated from reputed universities in Australia, Canada, United Kingdom, and USA. The faculty members strive to maintain a competitive research environment resulting in scientific publications and consulting activities. Their areas of research span a wide range of subjects varying from purely theoretical to applied areas. 

It is difficult to capture the extreme effort put forth by our faculty members and staff to provide students enrolled in the Department of Statistics and Operations Research with a sense of confidence and excitement about their professional future.  Thus, I hope you will go beyond your visit to our website and take the opportunity to visit our department and experience for yourself our positive attitude.
